Fun, easy, cheap ways to create plenty of goodies for young trick-or-treaters at a kids Halloween party
If you're hosting a children's Halloween party, you'll want to provide an assortment of easy, creative, inexpensive treats for the kids- with little baking or hassle. Here are some great ideas for some spooktacular Halloween food for your children's party! A good way to start is to visit the Wilton cake decorating area of your nearby craft store- they usually have Halloween shaped cake or muffin pans and candy Halloween decorations to add to the following treats. They even have Halloween cookie stencils so your party food may be as easy as popping slice-and-bake sugar cookies in the oven and adding some orange sugar! Kids Halloween Food: Worms in DirtYou'll need clear plastic cups, orange or green Jello, gummy worms and crumbled Oreo cookies. You can refrigerate the Jello right in the cups- place a gummy worm in the bottom of the cup before refrigerating. When the Jello sets, place a layer of crumbled cookies on the top and place a few gummy worms 'crawling' out of the 'dirt.' Kids love this easy Halloween party treat! You can even add a (dollop of whipped cream) ghost on top with mini chocolate chips for eyes! Kids Halloween Food: Cemetery CakeMake a sheet cake or buy a few loaves of pound cake. Ice, adding orange or green or purple food coloring to color the icing (or create colored coconut) if you like. Create a 'graveyard scene' on the cake by adding Peeps ghosts, pumpkins and cats. The 'graves' can be made out of Pepperidge Farm Milano cookies, Nutter Butter cookies or any oval shaped cookie. Cover each cookie in melted white chocolate and add "RIP" with gel icing tubes. Kids Halloween Food: Halloween Snack MixSince the kids will be busy playing, they may not stop long to eat. One easy way to provide Halloween party food for kids is to create a huge bowl (or plastic pumpkin) full of Halloween snack mix. Start with a box or two of Count Chocula or Frankenberry cereal- they aren't always easy to find, and are only out at Halloween. Other cereal brands sometimes come out with a special Halloween blend as well. Add candy corn, raisins, small marshmallows, small pretzels, chocolate chips or other treats to the mix. Kids will have fun 'grazing' at this yummy snack bowl all night! Kids Halloween Food: Marshmallow GhostsPrepare Rice Krispie Marshmallow treats according to the cereal box directions. Shape the warm mix into ghosts- use a ghost cookie cutter if necessary. Add some white icing and mini chocolate chip eyes and the kids will enjoy eating the fun Halloween ghost treats!
