These Gobbler Treats are a quick and simple Thanksgiving holiday craft children can make from sandwich cookies, candy corn, a small chocolate candy, and a red gummy worm.

This quick and easy Thanksgiving holiday craft takes little time, requires little preparation or clean up, and is a delicious treat.

What you will need for each Thanksgiving Gobbler Treat

  • One sandwich cookie. Oreos can be used, or any other brand.
  • Two tablespoons of frosting. White frosting or chocolate frosting are best.
  • Five pieces of candy corn.
  • One malted milk ball.
  • One cinnamon candy or red gummy worm.
  • Napkins
  • A craft stick or knife for spreading the frosting.

Directions

  1. First, open the cookie, and lay both sides on a napkin. Using the craft stick or knife, spread a little frosting on both cookies, directly over the frosting that is already on the cookie. Make the frosting just thick enough to hold the candies to the cookies.
  2. Make a small mound of frosting on one cookie, near the top of the circle. Stand the other cookie up vertically, on edge, in the mound of frosting. This becomes the back of the turkey.
  3. Place the malted milk ball in the frosting, pressing it against the cookie that is standing up. This becomes the body.
  4. Place five pieces of candy corn, point side down, on the cookie that is standing up. Push the candy corn pieces into the frosting to make them secure. This becomes the tail feathers.
  5. Place the cinnamon candy or the gummy worm next to the body of the Thanksgiving Gobbler. Secure the candy in the frosting. This becomes the wattle.

This Thanksgiving holiday treat is perfect for a classroom holiday craft project. Increase the amounts of the supplies for the number of students and parent helpers involved. Usually one to two bags of cookies, two tubs of frosting, and one bag of each type of candy make plenty of the treats, with leftovers to spare.

Alternative Ideas for the Thanksgiving Gobbler Treats

  • Use Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups cut in half for the body.
  • Use large chocolate kisses for the body.
  • Make holiday rum balls and use those for the body.
  • Use decorative frosting in a tube for the wattle.
  • Use thin red licorice rope pieces for the wattle.
  • Use other flavors and colors of frosting to liven up the gobblers.

When to Make Thanksgiving Gobbler Treats

These treats are perfect for:

  • Game days
